Delegation hosted by “The Golda Meir Mount Carmel International Training Center“
Every year, groups of teacher educators, teachers, policy makers, and educators who are visiting Israel in various educational frameworks come to The MOFET Institute, seeking to become acquainted with it as well as with its unique concept, way of working, and various components.
On November 15, 2011, a delegation, taking part in an advanced study course at the “The Golda Meir Mount Carmel International Training Center” – visited the Institute. The participants, who hailed from Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Ruanda, and Thailand, are all involved in teacher preparation on various levels – study planning, instruction, supervision, and so on. Most of their activity takes place in the field of early childhood.
On the agenda:
Dr. Michal Golan, head of The MOFET Institute, explained the functions of the Institute as a center for all facets of professional development. Dr. Sara Ziv, head of The MOFET Institute’s International Channel, described the stages of the Institute’s development from the germ of an idea to its present format. Penny Barsimantov, coordinator of the Institute’s international portals, presented the English-language academic content portal and demonstrated the ways in which they can be utilized.
Although the visit was brief, it sparked numerous questions among the guests as well as a desire to learn more about the Institute’s concept and to avail themselves of the knowledge that has accumulated there. Their impressions, quoted verbatim below, are reflected in several reactions that were received the very next day:
“I understand how much you are committed to do with the world. I am happy to get such organizations and individuals.”
“Really, we are happy on your presentations and hospitality and it is unforgettable event. You are ready to help us, and it is our responsibility to use your portals for our professional development which is helpful to our country and personal use as a teacher. I would like to present my great gratitude for you and your organization. I will use your portals and share to other teachers too. Wish you peace and success in the new year to all of the respectful Israeli people.”
“I am still marveled at your centre. We would keep in touch.”
